What Makes This Piece Relevant
Unlike the minerals elsewhere on this site, red coral is organic, built by marine animals rather than formed underground, and that’s why it looks and handles differently from stone. Pieces left in their natural shape keep the form the coral grew in, which suits one-of-a-kind designs better than a uniform bead. In traditional gemstone lore, red coral is associated with courage. If you’d like to compare shapes, the tree shape Mediterranean red coral is a similar piece, and the rest of the range sits in our Coral Crystals collection. For anyone sourcing red coral for jewelry making, this is the natural, undyed kind.
Buying Considerations
Coral is softer than most gemstones and reacts to acids, so keep undyed red coral away from perfume, vinegar-based cleaners and harsh chemicals, and wipe it with a soft damp cloth. If you’re new to buying gemstones online, our guide on buying loose gemstones online without getting scammed covers what to check before you order. Ships economy.
